Research and Innovation in Aging Forum: Toronto Social Capital Study - A Focus on the Social Lives of Toronto's Seniors
The Centre for Studies in Aging & Health was pleased to host a Research and Innovation in Aging Forum webinar featuring Michael Nicin, Executive Director, National Institute on Ageing, Ryerson University. This included an introduction to the concept of social capital, a discussion of social capital and seniors in Toronto and suggestions for targeted solutions and opportunity to flag current gaps.
Michael is the Executive Director of the National Institute on Ageing, a public policy-oriented think tank at Ryerson University, dedicated to studying financial, health, and social aspects of aging. Previously, Michael was Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to the Ontario Minister of Seniors Affairs, where he led the design and launch of the $155 million provincial seniors strategy. Prior to this, he also served as the Director of Policy and Strategic Planning for CARP, a 300,000 member-based advocacy organization for older Canadians.
